Competition Rules 

1. The competition is opened to guitarists of any nationality born after 01/01/1980.

2. The competition consists of two phases:

First round:

a) 1 composition (candidate’s choice) between the three selected for the Competition - free download of the selected scores.
b) Free program of maximum 15 minutes.

Final (public recital):                             

a) 1 composition of great importance of the XIXth century
b) 1 composition of great importance of the XXth century
c) Any other compositions freely chosen by the candidate.
The duration of the entire round: no more than 30 minutes.

N.B:  The compositions can’t be repeated in the different rounds

3. Candidates must present themselves (with a valid identity document) at 9 a.m. of 11th September 2010 at Accademia Musicale “G. Marziali” - Via Zeuner, 5 - 20822 Seveso (MB) – ITALY for the draw of the execution order and the beginning of the first round.

4. The Competition jury is composed by (in alphabetical order):

DAVIDE ANZAGHI, Composer and President of SIMC
MARCO BONFANTI, Performer and teacher at the Conservatory in Gallarate
TILMAN HOPPSTOCK, Performer and teacher at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt
FILIPPO MICHELANGELI, Guitarist and Director of Suonare News and Seicorde
GIULIO TAMPALINI, Performer and teacher at the Guitar Academy in Brescia

If any of the Jury have (or have had during the year preceding the start of the Competition) educational or public relations with one or more competitors, he will abstain from giving any vote about the performance of the competitor concerned.

5. The candidate who for any reason will not be present at the above indicated place and time, will lose his/her right to take part in the competition, and will not be refunded of the entry fee.

6. Applications for participation (according to the model freely downloadable from the website www.accademiamarziali.it) should be sent to the Secretariat of the competition by fax (+39.(0)362. 523.373) or e-mail (accademia@accademiamarziali.it) within 1 September 2010. Applications received after that date will not be considered. Applications must be accompanied by a photocopy of payment of entry fee of Euro 60.00 (Sixty) using :

in the name of: Accademia Musicale “G. Marziali” - Via Zeuner, 5 - 20822 Seveso (MB) (Italy), or by postal order with the same causal and header.

For organizational reasons, there is a maximum number of participants in the competition: each candidate, before making the entry, shall check on the website www.accademiamarziali.it if the entries are still open. In any case, the entry received after the maximum number of candidates enrolled will be refunded.
The Organization will send an official confirmation of the registration to all competitors regularly registered.

Prizes:

1° prize    €  3000
2° prize    €  1000
3° prize    €    800

Cash awards may be subject to Italian income tax laws.
The winners will also receive an artistic medal and a diploma.
Prizes may also be assigned on a par or even not be assigned.

7. The decisions and judgments of the jury are to be considered faultless and unquestionable.

8. In any case of dispute shall prevail Competition Announcement in Italian.

9. Participation in the competition implies full acceptance of these Rules.

The Organization reserves the right to modify these Rules and is obliged to promptly notify to the registered candidates.
